The person who will assume the position of custodian is accepting a very important role in the functioning of our school. The custodian will not only be working with maintenance, cleaning, and care, but he/she will be working with people, especially children.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) or two (2) years of custodial experience. Custodial and building maintenance in a school setting preferred
- Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
- Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibities
- Locks and unlocks assigned buildings: secures building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights
- Keeps outer premises, including sidewalks, parking lots, and playgrounds clean at all times
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedure
- Reports and responds to emergency calls for custodial assistance
- Assists with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc
- Strips, cleans, buffs and applies floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuums and shampoos carpets
- Turns in supply list each week so supplies may be delivered
- Identifies stains and uses proper chemicals for removal
- Performs various mainenance and custodial duties such as installation and repair to fixtures in restrooms, labs and classrooms
- Checks that toilets, urinals, faucets and drain are working
- Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains
- Sweeps office floors and vacuum any carpets
- Reports signs of vandalism or abuse of facilities to the principal
- Strips, seals, and waxes all tiled floors during summer months
- Thoroughly cleans walls, baseboards, and bookshelves
- Performs other duties assigned by Supervisor
