Description

The Secondary Math Teacher is responsible for promoting the student philosophy during the academic instruction of the classroom. The teacher must demonstrate strong content knowledge in their academic teaching area as well as a climate of “respect” to ensure a strong academic environment. The teacher should demonstrate an attitude of preparation for the classroom to maximize the total student academic learning. The teacher must also demonstrate leadership in student development.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree with major or minor in mathematics
  2. Valid Arkansas teaching certification with required endorsements
  3. One (1) - three (3) years of relevant experience preferred
  4. Measurable evidence of driving student achievement gains
  5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and the willingness and desire to support others in doing their best work
  6. To be an effective educator in the classroom
  7. To assist in maintaining high academic standards for all students
  8. Possesses the  ability to implement relationships with district staff/parents and communicate effectively with these individuals
  9. Sound knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  10. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides an instructional program to meet the needs of all students
  2. Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enable each student to achieve learning objectives
  3. Prepares for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior
  4. Plans for and utilizes instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques, which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning objectives
  5. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and District policy
  6. Works cooperatively with building administrators 
  7. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with students, school & district staff, parents and patrons
  8. Participates in endorsement area curriculum and other developmental programs
  9. Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve learning problems
  10. Models instruction without being abrasive or judgmental
  11. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee
